Project Overview
Carbon Arc was engaged to support the development and qualification of a refueling system for European-based aircraft. Given the critical nature of fuel handling in aviation, the project demanded strict adherence to international welding and pressure equipment standards.
Our Role
Carbon Arc provided technical leadership and compliance assurance throughout the project lifecycle. Key responsibilities included:
Development and validation of welding procedures in accordance with ASME Section IX
Engineering and documentation support for compliance with the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)
Oversight of fabrication and inspection processes
Coordination with client teams to ensure alignment with aerospace-specific safety and reliability requirements
Execution & Oversight
Our team worked closely with the client’s engineering and quality departments to:
Qualify welders and procedures for pressure-retaining components
Review and approve NDT protocols and inspection records
Ensure traceability and conformity of materials and fabrication processes
Support final documentation and readiness for regulatory review
Outcome
The refueling system was successfully qualified and delivered in full compliance with ASME IX and PED requirements. Carbon Arc’s involvement ensured a smooth certification process and reinforced the client’s commitment to safety, reliability, and regulatory excellence in aviation systems.
