Eligibility
To qualify for CWB Level 2 certification, candidates must have:
At least 2 years’ experience as a certified Level 1 welding inspector under qualified supervision
orCSWIP (3.0, 3.1, 3.2) or API (510, 653, 570) certification (valid or expired) with relevant inspection experience
orSignificant industry experience (evaluated case-by-case)

Candidates select one code for their initial exam from a broad list, including:

ABS, IACS Materials & Welding
Exams are conducted online and include multiple-choice questions, practical assessments, and code-specific open book components. A passing grade of 70% is required.
Renewal & Recognition
Renew every 3 years with proof of continuing involvement
Every 6 years: practical/reporting exam or 40 hours of recognized courses
Reciprocity: CWB Level 2 inspectors can apply for AWS CWI recognition
